APAC Real Estate Lead, Cummins Inc.
What is the best part of your job?
Pre-COVID, it used to be the ability to travel around the APAC region. Nonetheless, the best part of my job is the fact that it allows me to engage 1st hand with colleagues around APAC and learn more about their culture, mentality and way of life.
If you could give one piece of advice to yourself at the start of your career what would it be?
Be more confident of yourself, you have what it takes within you to succeed - Define your own success.
What is one act of kindness that you will remember forever?
I have been blessed with so much kindness throughout my life. This one act of unwavering love by my godmother is one that I will remember forward. She provided me with a sense of security and stability which governs how I lead my life and interact with others – With kindness and humility.
What is your favourite quote?
Our Deepest Fear By Marianne Williamson
And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we're liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.
If you could invite two people to dinner (dead or alive!) who would they be and why?
Michelle Obama – Her presence is inspiring, invigorating and her experiences wholistic. It didn’t dawn on me the importance of role models till I heard her podcast and attended her talk while she was Singapore in 2019, the responsibility we hold and what a waste it is if un-utilised. It will be great to tap on her experience after serving as FLOTUS on how we can all magnify this impact to improve the lives of the slighted / underprivileged in our respective regions.

Durreen Shahnaz – I got to know of Durreen Shahnaz first from her interview with a Singapore news channel, Channel News Asia (CNA) covering investment in sustainable stocks. Her sharing that investing in sustainability stocks have proven longer-term profits was refreshing, it dispels the traditional mindset that investing in green and sustainable businesses will not provide sufficient revenue / profits. I guess in this COVID world, these stocks have proven to be more stable. Durreen’s Impact Investment Exchange (IIX) and IIX Foundation in the Asia puts in a well-developed CSR structure pushing corporates to play a more active and accountable role in sustainability efforts. It will be great for everyone to learn more about IIX Foundation, bring forth their organisations. I am also keen to learn and invest in sustainable stocks!
